I've uploaded the full processed photo shoot from the Derek Trucks concert in Paris in April on Flickr. It was a tough bit of work, since this was one of my first shoots and I was still uncomfortable with a lot of the settings. Still, there are a few nice photos there, I think. Judge for yourself!

Je ne fais que débuter dans la gestion des reflets, mais j'ai réussi dans le cas présent à faire en sorte que le reflet du toit de la gare de St Pancras dans le pare-brise de l'Eurostar soit net. Le reste aurait mérité un peu plus de champ à droite, sans doute...
I'm only at the very beginning of finding how to manage reflections, but in the present case I managed to ensure that the reflection of the roof os St Pancras station in the windshield of the Eurostar stayed sharp. The rest of the picture would probably have been improved by a wider space on the right...

Ce matin j'ai entrepris une série de photos du globe terrestre des enfants. Je vais sans doute me refaire un atelier identique à l'avenir, je ne suis pas forcément content du résultat d'ensemble, mais j'ai tenté (avec l'appareil fermement ancré sur le gorillapod, évidemment) de photographier le globe en rotation rapide. Ca donne ceci. Effet intéressant même si le sujet n'est plus vraiment reconnaissable.
This morning I did a series of shots of my kids' world globe. I will probably have to revisit that particular topic because I'm not completely pleased with the results, but I tried (with the camera firmed up on a gorillapod) to shoot the globe spinning fast. This is the result. Interesting effect even if the subject is hardly recognisable.

Une autre photo du marché aux fleurs, comme les noix et les fleurs. Je trouve celle-ci moins intéressante parce que plus fouillis, mais la texture des bulbes est intéressante, je trouve.
Another shot from the flower market, like the nuts and the flowers. I find this one less interesting, as it is more chaotic, but the texture of the bulbs is interesting, I think.

Je trouve qu'il y a une certaine esthétique sobre aux plaques de rues sur des murs de briques. J'en avais déjà pris une à Londres, voici celle de Gordijnensteeg, une allée sordide au coeur du Red Light District à Amsterdam.
I find there a certain spartan esthetic to street plaques on brick walls. I had shot one in London, here is one from Gordijnensteeg, a seedy alley in the heart of the Red Light District in Amsterdam.
J'ai réussi à extraire plusieurs photos du concert du Dave Douglas Quintet à Amsterdam dont deux de Dave lui-même et une de Uri Caine. Ici, le saxophoniste ténor Donnie McCaslin. Je me rends compte que j'aime beaucoup prendre les musiciens dans le feu de l'action, mais j'aime tout autant les prendre dans les moments où ils se relâchent, particulièrement pour le jazz ou l'improvisation est intense.

I'm starting to realise that I love shooting musicians in action, as it were, but I enjoy just as much these pictures of moments when they relax a little bit, particularly in jazz when improvisation is intense.

Avoir le visage de face, les mains et le clavier dans la même photo est un gageure. Cette photo d'Uri Caine est sans doute ma meilleure réussite pour le moment, et il n'est pas de face...
Of all the musicians I have tried to photograph ever since I seriously started photography, I find pianists the toughest to frame properly. Getting the face, the hands and the keyboard in the same shot is virtually impossible. This photo of Uri Caine is probably my best shot so far, and he's not facing the camera...

Un des trucs auxquels j'aimerais m'essayer quand j'aurais le matériel adéquat (essentiellement un bon trépied, et peut-être quelques filtres) c'est de photographier des plans d'eau et cours d'eau en exposition lente. Je ne doute pas qu'il s'agisse d'un art qui prend du temps à s'apprendre, mais je trouve certains des résultats magnifiques, comme sur la galerie présentée ici, par le photographe Davidone.
One of the things I'd like to try once I get the adequate gear (mostly a tripod and maybe some specific filters) is to shoot lakes or rivers with a long shutter speed. I don't doubt it's an art that's hard to master, but I find the results superb, as on the gallery presented here, by photograph Davidone.
J'aime bien prendre des photos d'objects ou de sujets identiques qui forment de fait une texture par leur répétition. Après les noix de la semaine dernière, ici une autre photo prise au marché aux fleurs d'Amsterdam. Ma femme trouve ces fleurs horribles, mais personnellement j'aime bien la photo!
I like to shoot pictures of identical objects or subjects that form a pattern by repetition. After the nuts last week, here is another photo from the Amsterdam Flower Market. My wife finds these flowers horrible, but I quite like the picture!
